Crown Gas and Power contract features

Our business energy experts have reviewed Crown Gas and Power’s terms and conditions to highlight key contract features businesses should be aware of before entering into an agreement.

Payment methods

Payment methods

Crown Gas and Power invoices business customers monthly for energy used and associated charges. Direct debit is the standard payment method, and customers must ensure sufficient funds are available to meet direct debit collections.

If a customer fails to maintain direct debit payments, Crown Gas and Power may increase the unit rate by 0.5p/kWh and apply an administration charge of £1.00 per day until payment by direct debit is reinstated.

End of contract

End of contract

Supply contracts run for the agreed term set out in the contract documentation. Where the customer is a micro business, Crown Gas and Power will make reasonable efforts to contact the customer at least 60 days before the contract end date to provide renewal terms.

If no new contract is agreed, customers will be moved onto out-of-contract rates, which are higher than standard contracted rates, until a new agreement is in place or the customer switches to another supplier.

Credit Check

Credit checks

Crown Gas and Power may carry out credit checks before offering supply and at any point during the contract term, including sharing payment history with credit reference agencies.

If a customer’s credit risk becomes unacceptable, Crown Gas and Power may request a third-party guarantee or security deposit within ten days. Failure to provide this may be treated as a material breach of the agreement.

Switch business energy

Switching suppliers

Businesses can switch business energy suppliers at the end of their contract term.

Crown Gas and Power may object to a transfer where the switch falls within the supply period, where the customer has not consented to the switch, or where charges are overdue.

Meter access

Meter access

Customers must provide meter readings when requested and allow Crown Gas and Power and its agents access to meters at all times for any purpose connected with the supply.

If access is repeatedly refused, Crown Gas and Power may apply a charge of £150 per failed visit and, in serious cases, may deenergise or disconnect the meter.
